Wonky Wires Terms of Use
Effective date: October 17, 2026
Last updated: October 17, 2026
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Onyx Consulting LTD, the company that makes Wonky Wires. They cover the Wonky Wires app, the website at wonkywires.app, Crew Plans bought on the website, and anything else we offer that links to these Terms.
Please read them. Section 12 and our separate Safety Disclaimer explain what Wonky Wires is and isn't for electrical work. Section 16 limits our liability. Section 18 explains how disputes are resolved, including binding individual arbitration and a waiver of class actions, and how you can opt out.
1. Who we are and accepting these Terms#
Wonky Wires is operated by Onyx Consulting LTD, a Texas corporation based in San Antonio, Texas, doing business as Wonky Wires ("Wonky Wires," "we," "us," "our").
These Terms include, and you also agree to, our Safety Disclaimer and our Privacy Policy. Together they're the whole agreement between you and us about Wonky Wires. If these Terms and the Safety Disclaimer ever conflict on a safety topic, the Safety Disclaimer controls.
You accept these Terms by tapping "I agree" in the app, by buying a Crew Plan, or by using Wonky Wires. If you don't agree, please don't use Wonky Wires.
If you accept these Terms on behalf of a business (for example, when you buy a Crew Plan for your company), you confirm that you're allowed to bind that business, and "you" includes the business.
2. Who can use Wonky Wires#
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if that's higher) to use Wonky Wires. You can't use Wonky Wires if the law forbids it where you are, or if you're barred from receiving services under U.S. law.
3. What Wonky Wires is, and what it isn't#
Wonky Wires is a documentation and reference tool for people who work on electrical systems. It helps you draw, record, and understand how an electrical box is wired, and share that record with others. It models common residential wiring; commercial, three-phase, and other systems aren't modeled.
Wonky Wires is not:
- a substitute for a qualified person's training, judgment, and inspection on site;
- a substitute for your local electrical code, the authority having jurisdiction, permits, inspections, or manufacturer instructions;
- a way to check whether wiring is safe, correct, or compliant with any code; or
- professional, engineering, or legal advice.
A diagram is only as accurate as what you enter, and it may not match the real box. Explanations and labels in the app describe what's drawn; they don't verify what's in the wall. Requirements vary by location.
4. Accounts and sign-in#
You don't need an account to use Wonky Wires. The app creates an anonymous account automatically so features like sharing work.
Some features need you to sign in with your email address, such as owning or joining a Crew Plan and keeping referral rewards. We send a one-time code to your email to confirm it's yours. Keep access to that email, since it's how you sign back in.
You're responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your devices and email secure. Tell us right away at hello@wonkywires.app if you think someone else is using your account.
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings) or by emailing us. Deleting your account ends your seat on any crew you've joined and any referral reward tied to your account. It doesn't cancel a subscription: cancel Pro in your Apple Account settings, and if you own a Crew Plan, cancel it first in the app (Manage crew, then "Manage billing or cancel"), or it keeps renewing (see section 6).
5. Your license to use the app#
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Wonky Wires app on devices you own or control, for your personal use or your own business's internal use, as long as you follow these Terms. If you got the app from the App Store, section 22 also applies.
You may not copy, modify, sell, rent, sublicense, or distribute the app; reverse engineer or try to extract its source code, except where the law specifically allows it; or remove any notices of ownership.
6. Plans, payments, renewals, cancellation, and refunds#
6.1 Free
Free lets you draw, document, and share boxes, and save a limited number of boxes (currently 3). We may change what Free includes at any time.
6.2 Pro (through Apple)
Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple's App Store, monthly or yearly. The price is shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.
- You manage and cancel Pro in your Apple Account's subscription settings. We can't cancel or refund Apple purchases for you.
- Refunds for Pro are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.
6.3 Crew Plans (through our website)
Crew Plans give Pro to a set number of people (seats) at one business, paid by the plan's owner. They're sold on wonkywires.app and billed by our payment processor, Stripe.
- Plan sizes and prices are shown before you buy, monthly or yearly.
- By buying, you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method for the plan now and at each renewal, plus any applicable taxes.
- Your plan renews automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
- Annual renewal reminders. Before a yearly plan renews, we'll email the plan's owner a reminder at least 15 days (and no more than 45 days) ahead.
6.4 Cancelling a Crew Plan
You can cancel anytime in the app (Manage crew, then "Manage billing or cancel"), with the manage-billing link in your Crew Plan emails, or by emailing hello@wonkywires.app from the address used to buy the plan.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your plan, and every seat on it, keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for, then ends.
6.5 Crew Plan refunds
- Monthly plans: we don't refund partial months. Cancel anytime and your plan runs to the end of the month.
- Yearly plans: if you ask within 14 days of buying a yearly plan, or within 14 days of a yearly renewal charge, we'll refund that charge in full. After 14 days, we don't refund the rest of the year, but your plan keeps working until the year ends.
- A refunded plan ends immediately, and all its seats lose their Pro access right away.
- We may offer refunds or credits in other situations at our discretion. Nothing here limits any refund the law requires (see section 21).
To ask for a refund, email hello@wonkywires.app from the address used to buy the plan.
6.6 Failed payments
If a Crew Plan payment fails, Stripe will retry it for a period of time, and your crew keeps its Pro access while it does. If payment still can't be collected, the plan ends and its seats lose Pro.
6.7 Price changes
If we change the price of your Crew Plan, we'll email the owner at least 30 days before the new price applies. It takes effect at your next renewal after that notice. If you don't want to pay the new price, cancel before then. Apple handles price changes for Pro and asks for your consent where required.
6.8 Taxes
Prices may not include taxes. Where required, we or our payment processors will add applicable taxes at checkout.
7. Crew Plans: owners and members#
The owner is the person who bought the Crew Plan. After signing in with the email used at checkout, the owner can manage the crew in the app (Settings, "Manage crew"): see who holds each seat, remove a member to free up the seat, and replace the join link.
Owners are responsible for who they invite. Keep your join link private. Anyone who has it can join while seats are available. If it's shared too widely, replace it in the app, and the old link stops working.
Seats are limited to your plan size. If you switch to a smaller plan, the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Before then, the app shows the owner how many members are over the new limit, so the owner can choose who to remove. If the crew is still over the limit when the smaller plan starts, the members who joined most recently lose their seats until the crew fits.
Members join with the owner's link. When you join a crew:
- your email address and your seat status are visible to the plan's owner, so they can manage their crew;
- you get Pro only while the plan is active and you're a member. It ends if the owner removes you, the plan ends, or you delete your account; and
- a crew seat isn't a personal Pro subscription, and it isn't transferable. You're never charged for a crew seat.
8. Referral program and "Pro free for life"#
You can get a referral link in the app. If a business buys a Crew Plan through your link, you earn "Pro free for life," once that plan has been active and paid for at least 35 days and isn't set to cancel.
- "Pro free for life" means Pro at no charge for as long as Wonky Wires offers Pro and your account is in good standing. It isn't transferable, has no cash value, and ends if you delete your account, break these Terms, or abuse the program.
- One reward per business. A reward is cancelled if the qualifying payment is refunded, disputed, or charged back, or if we reasonably believe the referral was fraudulent or abusive (for example, fake accounts or self-dealing designed only to earn a reward).
- Sign in to keep your reward. A reward tied to an account that isn't signed in with your email can be lost if you delete the app or change phones.
- If you already pay for Pro through Apple, cancel that subscription yourself in your Apple Account settings once you have your reward. We can't cancel it for you and aren't responsible for Apple charges after you receive the reward.
- If you promote Wonky Wires (for example, in a post or video) to earn a reward, you must clearly disclose that you benefit from the referral.
- We may change or end the referral program for future referrals at any time. Rewards already earned are honored as described above.
9. Your content and sharing#
Your boxes are yours. You own the jobs, boxes, notes, labels, and other content you create ("your content"). Your library is stored on your device, not on our servers (see our Privacy Policy).
When you share, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, and display the content you share, only to operate the sharing feature: showing it to anyone who has the share code or link, in the app and on our website, for as long as the share exists (shares expire after 90 days).
You're responsible for what you share. Anyone with the code or link can see it. Don't share other people's personal information (like a customer's name or address) unless you have the right to, and don't share anything unlawful. We don't allow objectionable or abusive content. You can report a shared box from the app or our website, or by emailing hello@wonkywires.app; we review reports within 24 hours and remove anything that breaks these Terms.
Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
10. Backups#
The app can create a backup file. It doesn't store one for you. Making backups, keeping them somewhere safe, and knowing where they are is your responsibility. We never receive the file and can't recover it.
A backup file is a plain-text record that you control. It can be lost, moved, damaged in transit, or edited outside the app, so we can't guarantee that a file we didn't keep will still be readable when you come back to it.
Restoring adds boxes as copies. It never deletes or overwrites anything already on your device. If a file can't be read, in whole or in part, the app tells you instead of restoring silently.
11. Acceptable use#
You agree not to:
- use Wonky Wires for anything unlawful or to harm anyone;
- share content that is objectionable, abusive, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit, or that infringes anyone else's rights;
- guess, scan, or scrape share codes, join links, or referral codes, or try to access content that wasn't shared with you;
- interfere with, overload, or try to break Wonky Wires, our servers, or our security;
- create fake accounts, or misuse crew seats or referrals, to get Pro you didn't pay for or earn;
- resell or give away access to Wonky Wires, except crew seats as these Terms allow;
- copy Wonky Wires' design, device art, or content to build a competing product; or
- present anything made with Wonky Wires as an inspection, certification, or proof that work meets any code.
We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules (see section 19).
12. Safety#
Electrical work can cause serious injury, death, and property damage. Wonky Wires doesn't make any work safe.
- Turn off the power at the breaker and test before you touch, using a working, properly rated voltage tester. The only exception is energized work by a qualified person following NFPA 70E (or the equivalent where you work) and their employer's procedures, as our Safety Disclaimer explains.
- Only qualified persons should work on electrical systems. If you're not qualified, don't do the work; hire a licensed electrician.
- Follow your local code and the authority having jurisdiction, get the permits and inspections your work requires, and follow manufacturer instructions.
- You're solely responsible for the work you do and for your decisions on site.
Our separate Safety Disclaimer, which you accept along with these Terms, explains this in full, including the risks you assume. It's part of these Terms.
13. Our intellectual property#
Wonky Wires, including the app, website, name, logo, device art, and written content, belongs to Onyx Consulting LTD or its licensors and is protected by law. These Terms don't give you any rights in it except the limited license in section 5.
14. Third-party services#
Wonky Wires works with services run by other companies, such as Apple (the App Store and subscriptions) and Stripe (Crew Plan payments). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and you agree to follow them. We're not responsible for other companies' services or for websites we link to.
15. Disclaimers#
To the fullest extent the law allows, Wonky Wires is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and accuracy.
We don't warrant that Wonky Wires will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that any diagram, explanation, or label matches any real installation; or that any wiring shown is safe, correct, or compliant with any code.
Some places don't allow certain warranty disclaimers. Where that's the case, these disclaimers apply to the fullest extent allowed there.
16. Limits on our liability#
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT LIMITS OUR LIABILITY TO YOU, INCLUDING FOR CLAIMS BASED ON OUR NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR PRODUCT LIABILITY.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS:
- ONYX CONSULTING LTD AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUCCESSORS, AND ASSIGNS WON'T BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, OR FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY ARISING FROM ELECTRICAL WORK, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE.
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO WONKY WIRES IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR WONKY WIRES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, INCLUDING THROUGH APPLE, OR (B) US$100.
THESE LIMITS APPLY TO EVERY LEGAL THEORY, INCLUDING CONTRACT, WARRANTY, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, PRODUCT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE. They don't apply where the law doesn't allow them, such as liability that can't be limited for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or intentional harm, or rights under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act that can't be waived, or, in some places, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
17. Indemnity#
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and indemnify Onyx Consulting LTD and its owners, officers, directors, employees, agents, successors, and assigns against claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: electrical or other work you perform or supervise; your misuse of Wonky Wires; content you share; or your breach of these Terms. The Safety Disclaimer's indemnity (its section 10) also applies.
18. Resolving disputes and arbitration#
Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights.
18.1 Informal dispute resolution
Before starting any formal claim, email us at hello@wonkywires.app with your name, contact details, a description of the problem, and what you're asking for. We'll do the same if we have a dispute with you. Both sides agree to try in good faith to resolve it informally for 60 days before starting arbitration or a court case. Time limits for bringing claims are paused during those 60 days.
18.2 Binding individual arbitration
If we can't resolve a dispute informally, you and we agree to resolve it by binding individual arbitration, not in court, except as stated below. This covers any dispute relating to Wonky Wires or these Terms, including whether this section applies. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section.
Arbitration will be run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA), as modified by these Terms. If you're an individual, the AAA's Consumer Arbitration Rules apply. The AAA's Commercial Arbitration Rules apply only to a business that buys a Crew Plan. The arbitrator can award the same individual relief a court could. Hearings may be held by video or phone, decided on written submissions, or held in Bexar County, Texas, or the county where you live, whichever you choose. Filing fees and arbitrator costs are paid as the AAA's rules provide.
Despite the delegation in this section 18.2, only a court may decide whether section 18.4 or 18.5 is enforceable.
In arbitration there's no judge or jury, and review of the decision by a court is limited.
18.3 Exceptions
Either side may instead: (a) bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies, in the county where you live or in Bexar County, Texas; or (b) ask a court for an injunction to stop misuse of intellectual property or unauthorized access to our systems.
18.4 No class actions, and jury waiver
You and we agree to bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative action. The arbitrator can't combine claims or award relief to anyone other than the individual party. If this paragraph is found unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim goes to court (not arbitration) as described in 18.8.
JURY TRIAL WAIVER. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, YOU AND WE EACH WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL FOR ANY CLAIM THAT IS HEARD IN COURT.
18.5 Mass filings
If 25 or more similar arbitration demands are filed against us or by us by the same or coordinated lawyers or groups within 180 days, then, to the extent consistent with the AAA's applicable mass-arbitration rules, they'll be administered in batches of up to 50 demands, with one arbitrator per batch, and both sides will cooperate in good faith to resolve them efficiently. Time limits are paused for demands waiting in a later batch.
18.6 Opting out
You can opt out of arbitration by emailing hello@wonkywires.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with the subject line "Arbitration opt-out" and your name and the email address you use with Wonky Wires. Opting out doesn't affect any other part of these Terms.
18.7 Changes to this section
If we change this section, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice, and the change won't apply to any dispute we already know about. You can reject the change by emailing us within those 30 days, and the previous version of this section will keep applying to you.
18.8 Governing law and courts
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and by the Federal Arbitration Act for section 18. Any dispute that isn't arbitrated will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Bexar County, Texas, and both sides consent to those courts, except that a small-claims case may be brought in the county where you live as section 18.3 allows.
18.9 EU and UK consumers
If you're a consumer living in the EU or UK, sections 18.2 to 18.6 don't apply to you, and nothing in these Terms takes away your right to bring a claim in the courts where you live or the protections of your local consumer law (see section 21).
19. Ending your access#
You can stop using Wonky Wires anytime and delete your account in the app. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a paid plan: cancel Pro in your Apple Account settings, and cancel a Crew Plan as described in section 6.4.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, abuse Wonky Wires or other users, create legal risk for us or others, or if the law requires it. Where reasonable, we'll tell you first.
If we stop offering Wonky Wires or a paid plan altogether, we'll give reasonable notice, and we'll refund prepaid Crew Plan fees for the unused part of the period. Apple handles refunds for Pro.
Sections that by their nature should survive (including 9 to 18 and 23) survive after these Terms end.
20. Changes to these Terms#
We may update these Terms. We'll change the "Last updated" date and, for meaningful changes, tell you in the app or on the website, and email Crew Plan owners, before the changes take effect (at least 30 days before, for changes that reduce your rights). If you keep using Wonky Wires after changes take effect, you accept them. Changes to section 18 follow section 18.7.
21. If you're in the EU or UK#
If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, you have legal rights that these Terms can't limit, including rights about the quality and conformity of digital services. You may withdraw from a Crew Plan within 14 days of buying it and get a refund by emailing us. Pro bought through Apple follows Apple's process for EU and UK withdrawals. The limits in sections 15 and 16 apply only as far as your local law allows.
22. If you got the app from the App Store#
This section applies to the Wonky Wires app downloaded from Apple's App Store, and together with the rest of these Terms serves as the app's end-user license agreement.
- Agreement. These Terms are between you and Onyx Consulting LTD only, not Apple. Onyx Consulting LTD, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
- Scope of license. Your license is a non-transferable license to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (except that the app may be accessed by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing, where Apple allows it).
- Maintenance and support. We're solely responsible for any maintenance and support, as described in these Terms or as required by law. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- Warranty. We're solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses from any failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including (a) product liability claims; (b) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (c) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (a) you're not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that the U.S. Government has designated as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (b) you're not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Developer name and contact. Questions, complaints, or claims about the app go to: Onyx Consulting LTD, San Antonio, Texas, USA, hello@wonkywires.app.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app (for example, your wireless data service agreement).
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and once you accept these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
If this section conflicts with the rest of these Terms for the App Store app, this section controls.
23. General terms#
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Safety Disclaimer, and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about Wonky Wires and replace any earlier agreements on the subject.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, that part is limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a right, we haven't waived it.
- Assignment. You can't transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale, or reorganization.
- Events beyond our control. We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- Notices. We may send you notices by email or in the app. You can send notices to hello@wonkywires.app.
- Relationship. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship.
- Language. These Terms may be offered in English and Spanish. The Spanish version is a translation. If the two versions differ, the English version controls.
